Choosing The Right GMAT
Course

The vast
majority of people preparing to take the GMAT prefer to take a
GMAT course that helps them prepare and know what to expect on
test day. However, there are thousands of such courses
available from which to choose. Many are available at no cost
whatsoever. Many more are offered for a fee. Before deciding on
a particular course, free or paid, one should know what the
course has to offer.
Here, we will take a look at some different options in a GMAT
course, both paid and free, so that one can make an informed
decision when selecting one to help prepare him/her for the
GMAT. The first we will look at is offered by Kaplan. This
course is available at a cost of 450 to 1550 dollars, depending
on where and how the course is taken.
Teachers are available to assist with personalized homework
assignments based on one's weak points. In addition, this
course offers a unique option. Students may take their practice
test at an actual GMAT testing center.
Manhattan GMAT is another company that offers a paid course
designed to help students prepare for this test. They have the
unique distinction of having all of their instructors be people
who scored in the 99 percentile on the test. These instructors
are able to make individualized homework assignments based on
where one is weakest in the subject areas.
There are thousands of other programs available on the
internet, including some high quality free sites. However,
unless it has certain features, a course will not be worth the
price. One, it must include training to help a person pass the
verbal and mathematic portions of the test by reviewing all of
the basic concepts that will be tested.
Two, it should include sample questions of the same type and
skill level as will be encountered on the actual test. Three,
it should include a practice test that is as close to the
actual GMAT as possible.
Even the free courses offered online should include all of
these features and offer a live instructor to answer questions
and assist students who need help with specific types of
questions or subject areas. As long as all these criteria are
met, how much one should pay for a GMAT course depends on how
confident he/she is that paid courses are far superior to free
offerings and who he/she feels offers the most comprehensive
GMAT preparation.
